Great Resource January 13, 2006 SP 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Great resource! Handy with a ton of information packed into the pocket-sized format. Thorough and organized in a way that is extremely clear and easy to use. Explains abnormal ranges of laboratory results without giving way too much information like the big lab books do. It's great for clinicals, too!
KEEP it in your pocket! February 14, 2007 Girl Friday (Silver Spring, Maryland United States) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is such a great resource - I left it at the charge nurse desk so we could ALL use it and it "took a walk" - even with my name plastered all over it! Sooo-o-o, I'm buying another one because I can't live without it. Great for finding tests in the computer that the doctor ordered but you can't read exactly what he/she wrote. Alphabetical - easy to find tests. Tells what color lab tube and any special handling (if needed) and the indications for the tests (what they're looking for). Also, the significance of ABNLs in brief concise form. A must have for quick, easy-to-understand reference and a good "look-through read" just for the 'fun of it'.
A Wealth Of Information August 21, 2007 A. Biddle (Ohio) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
this little thing has a plethora of information! and if it werent for this i wouldnt have made it through clinicals. there is alot of stuff i will probably never use and the spiral that holds it together easily slides off after flipping through a few pages. but its still very nice to keep on your persons at work. highly recommended
Right amount of Info September 9, 2009 Student Nurse (Phila PA) I really like this book for labs and tests. It's small but it has what I need to know ---- why a test gets ordered, normal and abnormal results, what that means for the patient's diagnoses, and what to do if a lab is way off and critical. The bigger book I have, while good, has more info than I actually need --- and I can't keep it with me like I can with a pocketguide. Believe it or not, I read it just out of curiosity, too!!
awesome resource January 21, 2010 D. Lee (Old Lyme, CT USA) Just changing practice areas, haven't needed to use lab values much before. But now . . . a LOT. This is not only useful as a "quick reference" but also a concise refresher and learning tool.
